To save a segment layout file

  1. From the Data Tools menu, click File > Save.
  2. Type a name for the segment layout file; the default is the database name.
  3. In the Save as type field, be sure to select Segment Layout Files (*.slf) (default).
  4. In the Recent folders field, specify the same directory that contains the .idy file used to extract the segment (default).
Note: We recommend that you retain the default settings when you save the segment layout file. When the defaults are used, the IMS Database Editor loads the segment layout file automatically with the database.
