Defining Segment Layouts

To define segment layouts for an IMS database, the Segment Layout Editor requires the following input:

• The name of the IMS database containing segments.
• The Data Division structure from a COBOL program that accesses the IMS database. This information is loaded from the COBOL debug information (.idy) file generated when you compile the program.

Then, for each segment layout you want to define:

• Select a structure from the Data Division
• Specify the IMS segment to which the structure applies
• For conditional segment layouts, select one or more test fields and specify one or more test conditions
