GEN Directives

  • CLS
    CLS indicates that the screen is cleared when starting the utility.
  • COPYEXT(ext)
    This directive indicates which copybook extension is used to create the complete copybook name for a DBD, MFS or PSB COPY statement.
  • DEFAULTEXT(ext)
    This directive specifies the default extension that is added to the input file name when no extension is specified.
  • ECHO
    This directive is used to control the interaction with the DBDGEN, MFSGEN and PSBGEN utilities.
  • EXCLUPDT
    This directive controls the type of file lock acquired for the output DBDGEN indexed files.
  • HEXFILL
    This directive enables you to retain the hexadecimal value of input characters when deploying a IMS EBCDIC application.
  • IMSLIBNO(x)
    This directive selects which IMS Load library directory in Workgroups is updated when multiple IMS Load Library directories are used.
  • LIST
    The list file contains the original DBD, MFS or PSB source statements with any warning or error messages included.
  • MAP
  • MODEL
    This directive dictates which device type within a single FMT should be genned.
  • /PATH
    /PATH=pathname specifies the folder where the generated control blocks from the MFS generation program will be saved.
