Before animating a program, you must compile it. Then when you step or run the program, the program is automatically animated. Alternately, you can start animating the program yourself, which is useful if you want to set up data monitors before stepping or running through the program.
You can also pass parameters to a program you want to animate. You either specify them as part of the project so that they are used by default whenever you animate the program. Alternatively, you can specify the command line with which to start an animating session.
Animating stops automatically when necessary, such as when you rebuild the program. Alternatively, you can stop animating the program yourself.
When you want to reanimate a program using the same parameters as before and with the data items reset to their original values, you stop animating and then start animating again in the same way as before.
